Vietnam joins the executive committee of the Association of International Friends of the Algerian Revolution

Mr. Vo Hong Nam, son of General Vo Nguyen Giap and Mr. Tran Van Binh, son of Lieutenant General Tran Van Quang were elected members of the Executive Committee of the Association of International Friends of the Algerian Revolution.

On July 3, the Association of International Friends of the Algerian Revolution was created in the Algerian capital Algiers.

Mr. Vo Hong Nam, son of General Vo Nguyen Giap and Mr. Tran Van Binh, son of Lieutenant General Tran Van Quang - generals who greatly contributed to the victory of Dien Bien Phu - were elected members of the executive committee of the 'association.

 

 

 

According to the correspondent of the Vietnamese News Agency in Algiers, on the occasion of the closing of the 60th anniversary of national sovereignty and the 61st anniversary of the independence of Algeria, the Association of International Friends of the Revolution Algerian was created under the supervision of the Algerian Ministry of Veterans and Mujahideen.

 

 

With the aim of recognizing the solidarity, support and sacrifice of the international people in the service of the Algerian revolution, and at the same time contributing to the dissemination of human values, the promotion of friendship between nations and the strengthening of world peace, the Association brought together 70 delegates from more than 30 countries around the world, including 2 delegates from Vietnam, Mr. Vo Hong Nam and Mr. Tran Van Binh.

 

Algerian diplomat and former ambassador Noureddine Djoudi was elected president of the association.

 

Mozambique's former president, Joaquim Chissano, has been named honorary president.

 

Two delegates from Vietnam were elected among the 13 members of the Association's Executive Committee.

 

Vietnam is particularly honored for its contributions to the national liberation movement in general and to the Algerian revolution in particular.

 

 

 

International delegates and Algerian friends present at the conference all expressed their admiration for President Ho Chi Minh, General Vo Nguyen Giap; considered Vietnam as a model in the struggle for national liberation and in the development of the country; expressed their hope that Vietnam will continue to play a more active role in promoting peace and progress in the world.

 

 

 

Mr. Vo Hong Nam, sharing with the Vietnamese News Agency, expressed that the Algerian people are very hospitable, especially they have a very strong affection towards President Ho Chi Minh, General Vo Nguyen Giap and the war. People's Liberation of Vietnam. The historic victory of Dien Bien Phu greatly influenced the colonial countries and the national liberation movement. Algerian friends went to Vietnam in 1958 to learn from the experience of the people's war, the Vietnam liberation war and then fought the liberation war themselves to destroy the colonial regime, and their country became finally in 1962 an independent country.

 

  

 

In the afternoon of July 2, Mr. Vo Hong Nam and Mr. Tran Van Binh also had a seminar with the Vietnamese Embassy in Algeria. During this event, they communicated to the personnel of the Embassy especially to the young Vietnamese generation the valuable and interesting information on the victory of Dien Bien Phu, the difficulties and the obstacles that the army and the Vietnamese people had to overcome during campaign, on the qualities and lifestyle of President Ho Chi Minh and General Vo Nguyen Giap.

 

 

 

The seminar was held in a friendly and lively atmosphere, helping the participants to better understand Vietnamese history and in particular they have the right to be more proud of the nation's glorious victory which shook the five continents.
