TOURISM

Algeria is a vast country that covers an area of ​​2,381,741 km². It has many tourist attractions.

Its Mediterranean coastline stretches for a length of 1200 km and its geography is contrasting between plains, highlands, mountains and a vast desert area of ​​2 million km². It also benefits from a mild climate characterized by almost permanent sunshine.

Algeria has 10 national parks, including the Tassili National Park (100,000 ha) and the Ahaggar National Park (Hoggar, 380,000 ha). In addition, Algeria is also a home to many monuments and sites registered on the UNESCO World Heritage List: Tassili n'Ajjer, in the wilayas of Tamanrasset and Illizi, Djamila in the wilaya of Setif, the M'zab Valley in the wilaya of Ghardaïa, the Kasbah of Algiers, the Kalaa of Béni Hamad in the wilaya of M'Sila, Timgad in the wilaya of Batna and Tipaza in the wilaya of Tipaza.

Algeria has 205 touristic extension areas (TEAs). These TEAs are subject to an investment promotion policy aimed at developing tourism activities.

They occupy an overall surface area of ​​about 53 132 Ha and are distributed over the national territory as follows:

• 155 TEAs seaside resorts.

• 30 Saharan TEAs

• 11 thermal TEAs.

• 09 thermal TEAs.
