President To Lam received Algerian Minister of Mujahideen and Right Holders, Mr. Laid Rebiga in Hanoi on July 25, who came to Vietnam to attend the funeral of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

At the reception, the Vietnamese president said that Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong was an outstanding leader of the Vietnamese people who was tireless in his efforts to serve the country. He said he was moved to receive a letter of condolence from his Algerian counterpart Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
Thanking the Algerian delegation for attending the funeral, the Vietnamese head of state stressed that Vietnam will always respect and remember the precious sentiments of the Algerian government and people.
He said that General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong left many important legacies, especially in the field of foreign affairs, while affirming that Vietnam consistently pursues a foreign policy of independence and autonomy, valuing friendship and cooperation with traditional African countries, especially Algeria.
He asked the minister to convey his invitation to Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to pay an official visit to Vietnam at an appropriate time.
For his part, Minister Laid Rebiga conveyed a letter of condolence from Algerian President Abdelmadjib Tebboune to President To Lam, affirming that the Algerian government and people are extremely saddened by the passing of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, an eminent leader of the Vietnamese people, who served and contributed wholeheartedly to the Vietnamese homeland in different positions.
The Algerian government and people value the traditional friendship and cooperation with Vietnam, the minister said, affirming that he would do his utmost to strengthen bilateral relations in all aspects.
